Anders, a smart, handsome, wealthy man whose life is turned upside down by melancholy and loneliness, is the protagonist of Joachim Trier’s latest existential film, Reprise. He is soon to complete his drug treatment in another city and also has job interviews to attend. However, he ends up staying in the city, wandering the neighborhood and reconnecting with people he hasn’t seen in a long time. Throughout the rest of the day and into the night, he grapples with the ghosts of past mistakes, the possibility of a new life, and the hope of seeing the future when the morning sun rises.
