Paths of Glory 1957
Zafer Yolları depicts the effects of war on human life. In the chaos of World War I, French General Broulard orders General Mireau to capture the German-held Ant Hill at any cost. General Mireau, driven by personal gain, accepts this mission that puts his soldiers’ lives in danger. Things do not go as planned during the mission, leading to the inevitable failure of the unit. Mireau’s dirty games and inhumane actions, played through the soldiers he has endangered for his own position and rank, highlight the cheapness of human life in the chaotic environment of war. Stanley Kubrick’s realistic masterpiece was censored and banned in various countries for a long time.
