Patton 1970
Film starts in 1943 with the North African Campaign of World War II. The famous German Field Marshal Rommel, also known as Desert Fox (Karl Michael Vogler), faces off against the eccentric Tank General George S. Patton, Jr. (George S. Scott). Patton, who is a military genius and well-versed in war history, uses Rommel’s own tactics to drive the “desert foxes” out of North Africa. Promoted to Lieutenant General after this success, he is sent to Sicily. He is in competition with another famous commander, British Field Marshal Montgomery (Michael Bates). Due to his obsession with discipline, Patton becomes a coward during a hospital visit, slapping a sick soldier he accuses of cowardice and insulting him in public, putting his career in jeopardy.
