Peepli [Live] 2010

In the village of Peepli, two brothers who make a living as farmers have their land seized by the bank and are told that it will be sold at auction. Desperate for money, they decide to borrow from the richest man in the village, who is also the district chairman. When they go to his house to ask for a loan, they are mocked and told that if they commit suicide, the government will give them one hundred thousand rupees. One of the brothers takes this idea seriously. When the local channels report on the incident, it gains national attention.
