Maybe we have lost faith in each other because of our cruelty and greed for money? Are we all really waiting for God’s mercy? A ruthless man who works for loan sharks is used to collecting debts from people in any way possible. He has no family or loved ones to worry about, and he doesn’t hesitate to do his job with unlimited malice. One day, a woman appears before him and apologizes for leaving him years ago, claiming to be his mother. The man doesn’t believe her at first; he has no memories of motherhood. But as he grows attached to her, he realizes she is hiding a terrible secret. Pain, already causing controversy in Korea with its violent scenes, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September.
