Remember the Titans 2000
Alexandria, Virginia, 1971… High school football is everything for the locals. When black and white schools are integrated by state officials, this great love for football will be tested. With the appointment of African American coach Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) to lead the TC Williams High Titans team, along with former team coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton) as his assistant, the mixing of black and white is inevitable. Bringing Boone to the head of the Titans is risky, but Boone and Yoast learn to work together and find common ground beyond football. Honorable, tough, and dedicated to their job, Boone and Yoast come from diverse backgrounds, but they lead a team of angry black and white students not only to create a winning team, but also to guide the team members towards responsible and engaged youth. Even the conservatism and intolerance of the local community cannot prevent their decisions to work together. With their desire to reach the top and their great love for the sport, a lifelong friendship has begun. If their names are not remembered today, it is because the people of Virginia only remember the team’s success and call them the “Remember the Titans”.
