Righteous Kill 2008
Two experienced NYPD detectives track down a serial killer who is illegally trying to maintain peace. After working together in the oppressive environment of the New York City Police Department for 30 years, highly trained detectives David Fisk and Thomas Cowan should be ready to retire, but they are not. Before they hang up their badges, they are called to investigate a murder of a man known for human trafficking. The original murder victim; a suspect with a four-line poem describing a murder wrapped around him. As they investigate other crimes; it turns out that the detectives are up against a serial killer who targets criminals taking advantage of the security loopholes in the legal system. His goal is to do what the police cannot do on their own and remove the criminals from the streets to restore peace. The similarity between the recent murders and the previous murders raises a disturbing question: is the wrong person behind bars?
