In 1566, Abeguar, a warrior living in Guanabara, is in love with Janaína. When a pair of jaguars attack, Abeguar flies away with his beloved. The wise shaman tells Abeguar that he is the chosen one and must fight against Anhangá to protect his tribe. However, his entire tribe is killed and Abeguar turns into a bird. For 200 years, he flies in search of Janiana.
