Cindy finds a job as a caretaker for an elderly woman to make ends meet, but the house she works in is haunted by a child’s ghost. Meanwhile, crane operator Tom Ryan plans to spend the weekend with his teenage son Robbie and daughter Rachel. Cindy and Tom meet by chance and fall in love, but their relationship is tested when the world is invaded by giant alien tripod machines.
