John Malkovich stars as retired horse trainer Lucien Laurin in a film about housewife Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) who knows nothing about horse racing but owns the champion racehorse Secretariat, who won three consecutive races in 1973. Based on a true story, the film follows the success of a woman in the male-dominated horse racing industry and the story of a record that had remained unbroken for 25 years.
