The film, adapted directly from Susan Merrell’s novel Shirley, tells the story of a young couple who moves into the home of Shirley and her professor husband Stanley. Inspired by the young couple’s lifestyle, Shirley decides to make them the protagonists of the novel she is writing. Suddenly, Shirley finds herself in a completely different life story.
