Elderly millionaire writer Andrew Wyke (Michael Caine), known for his best-selling detective novels, is alone in his luxurious high-tech mansion outside the city. His wife Maggie has left him for a young, unemployed actor named Milo Tindle (Jude Law). Milo, a young, clever, and ambitious man, comes to the mansion at Wyke’s invitation. Tindle’s goal is to convince Wyke to sign the divorce papers as soon as possible. However, Wyke is intent on playing a game with his wife’s new lover. A fierce battle of minds ensues between them.
