Speed Racer 2008
Before, during, and after the race, speed racer (Emile Hirsch) is a lightning-fast racer who creates storms and kicks up dust on the track. Speed, who has a natural talent behind the wheel, is aggressive, instinctive, and most importantly, fearless. His only real rival is the memory of his idol, his brother Rex Racer. Speed wants to fill the void left by the death of his legendary racing pilot brother Rex while racing. Speed is dedicated to racing, a family business started by his father. His father Pops Racer (John Goodman) is also the designer of the Mach 5 that Speed drives. When Speed turns down a generous and appealing offer from Royalton Industries, not only does he upset the sick owner of the company (Roger Allam), but he also learns a terrible secret: Some major races are controlled by powerful businessmen who catch the best racers to increase their profits. If Speed doesn’t race for Royalton, Royalton will do everything in his power to ensure that Mach 5 never sees the finish line again. The only way for Speed to save his family business and beloved sport is to defeat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and loyal friend Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams up with the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox), who was once his rival. His goal is to win the deadly Casa Cristo race that cost his brother’s life.
