Spy Kids 3D: Game Over is the third and final film in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids series, which began in 2001. The first film in the trilogy tells the story of retired agents Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez, who return to their spy work with their children Carmen and Juni. In the sequel, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002), the young spies Carmen and Juni team up with new peers Gary and Gerty to save the world. In Spy Kids 3D, the third film in the series, characters from the previous films reappear. This time, Carmen is kidnapped by the villainous “Toymaster” played by Sylvester Stallone and trapped in the virtual reality world of a video game. Her brother Juni enters the game to rescue her. The entire three-dimensional segments of the film take place within the context of this computer game.
