Sam Foster (Ewan McGregor), a psychiatrist from New York, tries to save a patient who is considering suicide on his 21st birthday. However, there is a surreal mystery behind the suicide of his young patient Henry Lethem (Ryan Gosling). As Sam delves into the depths of Henry’s life, he experiences changes first in his subconscious and then in his real life.
