The Best of Enemies 2019

The true story of the bond between sharp-tongued civil rights activist Ann Atwater and C.P. Ellis, a local racist group leader. In 1971, after a fire at their town’s black elementary school, Ellis clashes with black rights advocate Mrs. Atwater. When the council doesn’t want to get involved, a special organizer is brought in to hold a debate in the city. For the first time, black and white people come together, breaking taboos, and the two enemy races begin to get to know each other. Directed by Robin Bissell, The Best of Enemies is a 2019 American film inspired by a true story. This high-quality production sheds light on past black-white issues in a drama, historical, and biographical genre. The film was released on April 5, 2019.
