Storyline

The Blue Lagoon 1980

The magnificent and prosperous paradise of the South Pacific is vividly depicted in Henry Devere Stackpoole’s 1903 novel. Two small children and the ship’s captain are the only survivors of a shipwreck that safely lands on a tropical island. After the captain dies, the children are left alone. Days turn into years as Emmaline (Brooke Shields) and Richard (Christopher Atkins) grow up in the exotic nature and natural beauty that surrounds them, living in the home they have built for themselves. As they begin to mature, they learn to cope with the physical and emotional changes that come with adulthood. Childhood love blossoms into a deep and emotional connection as they navigate the challenges of growing up together. Will they be able to reintegrate into society with their own children in tow?
