The Brave One 2007
New York City streets are Erica Bain’s (Jodie Foster) home and livelihood. She shares the city’s sounds and stories with radio listeners on her program “Street Walk.” Evenings are spent visiting her fiancé, David Kirmani (Naveen Andrews). But one horrific night, everything Erica knows and loves is taken from her: a sudden, brutal attack on David leads to his death, and Erica is left on the brink of death herself. While her physical wounds heal, the deeper scars do not. The fear that never leaves is stronger than the disappointment of losing David. The streets she once loved now feel foreign and threatening. When the fear becomes unbearable, Erica decides to arm herself against it. The gun in her hand becomes a tangible defense against an abstract enemy… or so she thinks. The first time you shoot someone, it’s kill or be killed. Will she defend herself a second time… or choose not to distance herself from danger? The chilling fear that once gripped Erica gives way to a desire one night to reclaim the life stolen from her, something inside her that she wasn’t aware of.
