Everything starts when 11-year-old Mark (Brad Renfro) witnesses a suicide while playing with his brother near the woods. The man who committed suicide is a mafia lawyer. When the police and FBI find the body, they suspect that the lawyer had spoken to Mark before committing suicide. Government agent Roy Foltrigg (Tommy Lee Jones) is determined to shed light on the case. However, the mafia threatens Mark. If he speaks, his family and himself will be killed.
