The Color Purple 1985
In the early 1900s, a young Southern African American girl named Celie is impregnated by her father and then sold off to marry a man who will become her master. Despite facing abuse, her only solace is writing letters to her sister, Nettie. Eventually, Celie meets a strong, heterosexual, and caring woman named Sophia who teaches her valuable lessons.
