The Count of Monte Cristo 2002
Edmond Dantes (James Caviezel) is an honest and naive sailor who is planning to marry the beautiful Mercedes (Dagmara Dominczyk). However, his peaceful life is suddenly turned upside down by the betrayal of his closest friend Fernand (Guy Pearce), who wants a Mercedes of his own. Falsely accused of a crime, Edmond finds himself imprisoned on the infamous island of If. Over the course of 13 years in prison, he abandons his beliefs in good and evil, focusing solely on seeking revenge against those who betrayed him. With the help of a fellow prisoner (Richard Harris), Edmond manages to escape and becomes the wealthy and mysterious Count of Monte Cristo. Now, he is a cunning and ruthless man with one goal: to find and systematically destroy those who trapped him and sentenced him to 13 years of imprisonment.
