Rich Hawaiian landowner Matt King (Clooney) decides to reevaluate his entire life after his wife Elizabeth suffers a serious boating accident and ends up in a coma. Taking his two young daughters on a trip to Kauai, Matt ultimately decides to sell the family’s vast estate after reflecting on his past and future. The 2005 Oscar-winning film “The Descendants,” written and directed by Alexander Payne, is a comedy set in Hawaii that also delves into tragic elements. Starring George Clooney, the movie received critical acclaim, winning awards at the Hollywood Film Festival and the Golden Globes, and receiving five Oscar nominations.
