Rich Hawaiian landowner Matt King (Clooney) decides to reevaluate his entire life after his wife Elizabeth suffers a serious boating accident and ends up in a coma. Taking his two young daughters on a trip to Kauai, Matt ultimately decides to sell the family’s vast estate after reflecting on his past and future. The 2005 Oscar-winning film “The Descendants,” written and directed by Alexander Payne, is a comedy set in Hawaii that also delves into tragic elements.
