The Good German 2006
Film
Adapted from the novel of the same name by Joseph Cannon, this first-rate historical thriller film tells a murder and love story while recreating the 1940s film setting using archival footage from that era. An American war correspondent returns to war-torn post-WWII Berlin to find a former mistress, who is a German woman. He is supposedly sent to cover the Potsdam Conference, but meanwhile, an American soldier is found dead. As our protagonist believes he has solved the mystery of the murder, he finds himself entangled in a poignant tale of corruption and intrigue in a city that is both financially and emotionally devastated.
