Storyline

The Interpreter 2005

United Nations interpreter Sylvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) overhears a plot to assassinate an African president. When she reports it to authorities, she is investigated by Tobin Keller (Sean Penn) of the U.S. Secret Service. Keller finds inconsistencies in Broome’s story and begins to suspect her. Meanwhile, Broome realizes she is being targeted by the assassins. A race against time begins to prove Keller’s innocence, save her own life, and prevent the murder. The film is notable for being the first to be allowed to film inside the historic United Nations building in New York. After a meeting with director Sidney Pollack, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan granted permission for the film crew to shoot in the General Assembly and Security Council chambers.
