The Killing 1956
The film is based on the novel by American writer Lionel White, who passed away in 1985. It has been used as a source for successful film adaptations and was first published in 1955. The screenplay was based on dialogues written by Jim Thompson, and the film, titled “Cinayet,” was completed by Kubrick in 1956. The story follows a group of men from different backgrounds and family lives who come together to plan a major heist. Their target is the cashiers where horse racers deposit large sums of money every day. The meticulously planned heist is threatened by the weakness of one of their own, while the group is willing to go to extreme lengths to avoid getting caught by the police. Despite their careful planning, unforeseen events on the day of the heist create chaos and jeopardize their operation.
