At 40 years old, Lisa Spinelli, a kindergarten teacher stuck in a small town, with a neglectful husband and two children who don’t care about their mother, spends her days teaching at a nursery school. When a 5-year-old student in her poetry class starts writing creative poems, she becomes enchanted and obsessed with the child. She risks her career, family life, and everything she has to protect the child from his neglectful family and a babysitter who steals his poems.
