The Majestic 2001
In the early 1950s, during the Cold War, anti-communist movements reached their peak. Peter, a screenwriter working for a major Hollywood studio during its golden age, finds himself in trouble after being blacklisted for his past involvement in a communist meeting. Fearing capture, he drunkenly drives off a bridge, losing his memory. Awakening in a strange town, he is mistaken for Luke Trimble, a man believed to have died during an operation 9.5 years ago. Falling in love with a local woman, Peter decides to reopen the long-closed Majestic theater. As his memory slowly returns, he faces scrutiny from the committee tracking him down.
