The Miracle Worker 1962
The Keller family’s only disadvantage is their daughter who is born blind, deaf, and mute. As Helen grows older, her problems increase. Her desires and needs are growing every day, but no one, not even her parents, can understand her. With conflicting feelings of love, compassion, and pity, nobody has the strength or courage to discipline Helen. The only options are to leave her in a nursing home or hire a teacher. The teacher they hire is a blind student with no experience, raised in a nursing home. When she returns home, the family’s hopes are shattered as their troubles double. Everyone agrees that both the teacher and Helen will fail, but with the necessary patience, trying to learn the whole world is worth the effort.
