The Motorcycle Diaries

Storyline

Diarios de motocicleta 2004

Revolutionary hero Che is known to everyone. But how many people know that he was once a 23-year-old medical student living in the wealthy neighborhoods of Buenos Aires? And how did he and his 29-year-old biochemist friend Alberto Granado come face to face with the realities of Latin America while riding a motorcycle? In 1952, Ernesto and Alberto set out from Buenos Aires on the back seat of a motorcycle. When their car breaks down, they hitchhike and get into trouble. A very different reality of Latin America awaits them. Ernesto, who has asthma, shares his medication with a woman; they share the fate of the patients in the Leprosarium. They witness the distorted urbanization and injustice built on the Inca civilization. This journey will determine the future of two young men. Based on a book written by Alberto Granado from Che’s diaries, the film was well received at all international festivals where it was shown. The film also offers an engaging viewing experience with music by Latin musicians.
