The Perks of Being a Wallflower 2012
The movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” tells the story of Charlie, a first year high school student in the 90s. Emotional and shy Charlie struggles with the changes around him, especially after the suicide of his closest friend Michael. His English teacher Bill tries to include him in life by giving him extra books to read, and Charlie’s experience bears witness to Bill’s efforts. Throughout Charlie’s story; dealing with a forgotten childhood, abortion, drugs, and sex, being exposed to homosexuality and struggling to judge others, he tries to participate in life. Caught between the simplicity of childhood and the idea of an impending future, Charlie is torn between observing the world around him and joining in, trapped amidst his friends’ and family’s issues.
