La pianiste 2001
The film “The Piano Teacher” is based on Elfriede Jelinek’s novel of the same name and follows a middle-aged woman who works as a professor at the Vienna Music Conservatory. Erika Kohut, who harbors a mix of love and hate towards her mother, is torn between being a respected and authoritative teacher and her dark desires. Going to erotic shows and cinemas in the suburbs of Vienna, Erica has entered a selfish process of life that she cannot understand the meaning of. She is so alien to herself that she cannot find a lover and is satisfied by watching couples secretly making love in a park at night. The wall between her public life and her suppressed desires begins to crumble when she interacts with a student who harbors a strange admiration and passion for her.
