The Royal Tenenbaums 2001
Royal Tenenbaum and his wife Etheline have been living apart for many years. The couple has three adult children, Chas, Richie, and Margot, each a prodigy who made significant strides in their youth. Chas, who has been involved in real estate since his youth, is well-versed in international finance. Margot, the family’s stepdaughter, developed an interest in playwriting in ninth grade and won the $50,000 Braverman Prize. Richie also made a name for himself in sports, winning three consecutive championships in national tennis tournaments. However, the success of the Tenenbaum siblings in their youth did not last long, giving way to failures and disappointments. This was largely due to the constant betrayals, mistakes, and disasters that plagued the family over the past 20 years, many of which were connected to their father, Royal Tenenbaum. One day, Father Tenenbaum informs the family that he has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and wishes to spend his last days with his family. The Royal Tenenbaums tells the story of this family coming together unexpectedly on a cold winter day after many years apart, in a comedic tone.
