Nick Wells (Robert De Niro) is ready to leave the criminal world behind. He starts a quiet and peaceful life with his girlfriend Diana (Angela Bassett) and focuses on his only passion, jazz. However, his business partner and friend Max (Marlon Brando) has other plans. To carry them out, he teams up with Jack (Edward Norton), a young, aggressive, and talented thief. Jack needs an experienced partner like Nick to successfully pull off his first big job.
