Ramon Sampedro spent 30 years of his life in bed after a young accident. His only connection to life is a window overlooking the sea. Two women enter his life: lawyer Julia and village girl Rosa. One of these two women makes a paralyzed patient below the waist taste the meaning of life and ensures his salvation. Alejandro Amenabar’s work won the second prize in Venice, while lead actor Javier Bardem won the best actor award.
