Action takes place in a modern world where familiar and unfamiliar landscapes collide. Kildren are children who never grow up with empty memories. This human race, condemned to live forever in a frozen adolescence unless killed in action, were held captive as war pilots to entertain Europeans with their aerial battles, playing a “war” game that should keep all of the world’s wars at bay. Yuichi Kannami, one of Japan’s top war pilots who cannot remember his past and can only fly and fight, is transferred to a new military airbase. However, Yuichi’s immortal soul begins to realize a disturbing truth after meeting his new commander, the beautiful Suito Kusanagi: the meaninglessness of his life.
