The Soloist 2009
After overcoming schizophrenia in his second year at Juilliard, musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers finds himself homeless on the streets of Los Angeles as his illness progresses. Trying to make a living by playing the violin and cello, Ayers’ life begins to change over time. Based on a true story from the book of Steve Lopez, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., the film also deserves recognition for the presence of Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx, who took extensive cello lessons for his role.
