In this film, based on an old Chinese legend, monk Fahai (Jet Li) and his disciple Nan Ren come to the human world to hunt down demons that harm people and imprison them in another dimension at Lei Feng Temple. Meanwhile, White Snake Susu saves botanist Xu Xian from drowning in the river and they fall in love at first sight. Su Su, along with her sister Green Snake Quqing, comes to the human world to see Xu Xian again, just as monk Fahai and his student are chasing demon bats at the Lantern Festival.
