The Swimmer 1968
In a wealthy suburb of Connecticut, on a bright sunny summer day, an energetic middle-aged man named Ned Merrill appears in a swimsuit in his friend’s backyard. This is a resort valley consisting of mansions each with a swimming pool. Ned embarks on a journey from pool to pool, crossing the entire valley to get back home. Along the way, he encounters events from his past at each stage of the journey. As the evening approaches, Ned’s energy begins to wane and he is met with colder receptions at the homes he visits. By the end of the day, summer turns into autumn.
