The Train 1964
In the film, directed by John Frankenheimer, Paris seems to have been liberated from Nazi control. However, German officer Colonel Franz von Waldheim is determined to transport priceless art treasures from the Jeux de Paume Museum back to Germany. Railway inspector Labiche tries to stop the shipment by sabotaging the train. The film’s realistic train scenes, using real trains and stations, set a new standard in filmmaking and influenced many directors. The movie’s impact can be seen in later films such as “Bullitt” and “The French Connection.”
