The Wind and the Lion 1975
When Theodore Roosevelt won the 1933 US presidential elections, an American woman named Eden Perdicaris (Candice Bergen) and her two children were kidnapped in Morocco by a Berber chief named Moulay Ahmed al-Rasuli (Sean Connery). This kidnapping alarmed the French, British, and Germans who were dividing the kingdom of Morocco among themselves at the time, fearing that Roosevelt would send troops to Morocco and claim a share of the pie. With no trace of the Berber leader found in the mountains or the desert, Rasouli’s nephew felt the need to seek help from the Sultan of Morocco. Meanwhile, Mrs. Perdicaris and her children will eventually adapt to Rasuli’s way of life, and the kidnapping will slowly turn into a voluntary hostage situation.
