To Kill a Mockingbird is a 1962 American drama film based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Harper Lee. Directed by Robert Mulligan, the film stars Gregory Peck, John Megna, and Frank Overton. The story follows a principled and courageous lawyer, Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck), who stands up for a black man in Alabama during the Great Depression, facing prejudice and intolerance from the townspeople. The film won three Academy Awards and was nominated in eight categories. It was also selected as one of the “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” films in the United States and preserved in the National Film Registry. To Kill a Mockingbird was ranked 25th on the American Film Institute’s list of the greatest films of all time and was voted the top courtroom drama by the American Bar Association Magazine.
