Tolkien, a film directed by Dome Karukoski, follows the young author as he forms a friendship with a group of companions who will shape his writing career. Through their adventures of friendship, courage, and inspiration, their bond grows stronger. However, the outbreak of World War II threatens to tear their brotherhood apart. Drawing inspiration from his experiences, Tolkien goes on to write the stories of Middle-earth in his later life. The film was released on May 10, 2019, in the United States.
