Tomboy 2011
10-year-old Laura (Zoe Eran) moves with her family (Sophie Cattani, Mathieu Demy) to a city in the east of Paris. She tells her new neighbors and friends that her name is Mikael, and the deception is somehow confirmed. Even her new neighbor Lisa (Jeanne Disson) falls in love with Mikael (Laura). However, when Mikael (Laura) gets into a fight to protect her 6-year-old little sister Jeanne (Malonne Levana), the lies unravel. Let’s see what consequences this truth will bring. Tomboy, which won the Jury Prize from Berlin and the Jury Special Prize for Gay and Lesbian in Philadelphia, the Audience Award for Gay and Lesbian in San Francisco, and the Best Gay and Lesbian Film Award in Turin, tells the story of a 10-year-old girl named Laura who presents herself as a boy in the city they have just moved to, and showcases the remarkable performances of amateur child actors. It was shown at the opening of the Berlin Film Festival’s “Panorama” and “Generation” sections.
