Trainspotting 1996

The film follows Mark Renton, a heroin addict living in Edinburgh, and his group of Scottish friends who are also addicts. As they spiral further into drug abuse, their friendship begins to deteriorate. Mark is the only one with the willpower to break free from this destructive lifestyle, but he struggles with the decision to live or die. The film sparked controversy in various countries for its portrayal of drug use, with some accusing it of promoting substance abuse. Despite the debates, the film was praised for its creativity and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. In 1999, it was ranked tenth in a BFI poll in the UK and in 2004, it was named the fourth best British film of all time by Total Film magazine.
