Doug Riley, after his daughter’s death, separated from his wife Lois and started dating a waitress named Vivian. Lois, consumed with guilt over her daughter’s death, cannot bring herself to leave the house. After Vivian’s death, Doug spirals out of control and finds himself at a strip club. There, he meets sixteen-year-old prostitute Mallory and eventually moves in with her. When Lois calls to say she won’t be coming home, prompting Mallory to leave, Doug rushes to Mallory’s house. He is shocked by what he finds but also struck by the striking resemblance between Mallory’s daughter Emily and his own daughter. He tries to move in with them, but Mallory is reluctant to give up her life as a prostitute.
