Living in Texas gives Bliss Cavendar two options: football or beauty pageants, both divided by gender roles. Happiness is increasingly suppressed by this monotony and lack of choice. Her mother, a former beauty queen, wants Bliss to follow in her footsteps. But Bliss, with her tougher and more masculine qualities, has different plans. Whip It debuted at number 6 at the US box office in its first week.
