Cheryl Strayed, a young woman who recently lost her mother, goes through a major upheaval and spirals into a drug addiction, witnessing her marriage slowly falling apart. Fueled by the pain of losing her mother and memories of the past, Cheryl makes a radical decision. She sets out on an endless journey, traveling through dangerous and challenging regions of America, even walking alone on the Pacific Crest Trail.
