Storyline

Willow 1988

Willow is a film that originated from a concept George Lucas had in 1972. In 1985, he asked his close friend Ron Howard, who was finishing Cocoon, to make a film based on the story. Bob Dolman was hired to write the script. After seven drafts, producer Lucas was finally satisfied. He signed a contract with 1.07 cm tall British actor Warwick Davis, whom he knew when he played an Ewok, to play the character named after him. Willow tells the story of young farmer Willow Ufgood (Davis), one of the Nelwyn “Dwarves,” trying to save the sacred baby (Ruth and Kate Greenfield) from the evil Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) who wants to destroy him. Master swordsman Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), sorceress Fin Raziel (Patricia Hayes) who turns into a muskrat, and finally the queen’s daughter Sorsha (Joanna Wally) help him. Kilmer and Wally met for the first time in this film and later got married.
